Sent on behalf of the Communities Team

Dear Town and Parish Council Clerks,

    Mindful Towns/Villages

The Breckland Council Inspiring Communities ‘Mindful Towns’ project is offering free mental health champion training to all Breckland-based community organisations and small businesses as part of a drive to recruit 250 Mental Health Champions over the next 18 months, and in an attempt to offer support to any of our towns and villages that are interested, to become recognised as being ‘Mindful’ places to live and work.

The first tranche of opportunities is being delivered face-to-face in each of the 5 market towns of Thetford, Swaffham, Watton, Dereham, and Attleborough between Nov 25th 2021 to April 29th 2022, and offers 3 different training options ranging from 2 hour workshops, to 2 day courses, in an attempt to make the program as accessible as possible to all groups and interested parties.

We are sharing this information with you to serve as an invitation to all of your councillors, small businesses, and community organisations, to sign up to any of the training opportunities that they might be interested in. Places are limited, but all interested parties can access all the essential information regarding the ‘Mindful Towns’ project – course content, dates, times, locations, and online booking portal – by clicking on the link below:

  • Croxton Parish

Picture1 The Parish of Croxton sits in The Brecks in south Norfolk having borders with  Stanford and Sturston to the north, Wretham to the east, Kilverstone to the south , and Thetford and Lynford to the west.
The importance of the landscape in the parish is recognised by its designation as an Area of Special Protection (policy ENV.1) – Area of Important Landscape Quality.
The parish is largely rural farmland in nature having two main residential areas located at Croxton village and at Hill House Lane/Heathlands Drive in addition to scattered smaller farm/residential locations.
Croxton is a thriving active parish with a Post Office/Shop, Village Hall, Playing field and Play Area, an RNA Club plus a number of separately organised Activity Groups. The Village Hall Committee also organise a number of events throughout the year.
The village is predominantly defined as a conservation area and has a number of listed buildings and structures, the largest of these being All Saints Church, parts of which experts believe date back to 800 – 900 AD.
