    Neighbourhood Plan – February 2026

Review of the Croxton Neighbourhood Plan

Croxton Parish Council have begun a review of the Neighbourhood Plan for the area. The Croxton Brettenham and Kilverstone Joint Neighbourhood Plan was adopted in 2019 following a referendum.

The Joint Neighbourhood Plan is now over 5 years old and it is therefore given less weight in the determination of planning applications. The Croxton Parish Council have therefore decided to review the Neighbourhood Plan to bring it up to date and ensure it is robust in influencing planning decisions.

Since the 2019 Neighbourhood Plan was adopted, the parish boundary for Croxton has changed and now does not include land south of the A11.  The Parish Council have decided to move ahead with a Croxton only plan and a new Neighbourhood Area has been designated which follows the new parish boundary.

Work on the new Neighbourhood Plan has continued quickly and much of the original plan still remains relevant. A new draft Plan has been produced and is now ready for consultation.

Sent on behalf of the Communities Team

Dear Town and Parish Council Clerks,

    Mindful Towns/Villages

The Breckland Council Inspiring Communities ‘Mindful Towns’ project is offering free mental health champion training to all Breckland-based community organisations and small businesses as part of a drive to recruit 250 Mental Health Champions over the next 18 months, and in an attempt to offer support to any of our towns and villages that are interested, to become recognised as being ‘Mindful’ places to live and work.

The first tranche of opportunities is being delivered face-to-face in each of the 5 market towns of Thetford, Swaffham, Watton, Dereham, and Attleborough between Nov 25th 2021 to April 29th 2022, and offers 3 different training options ranging from 2 hour workshops, to 2 day courses, in an attempt to make the program as accessible as possible to all groups and interested parties.

We are sharing this information with you to serve as an invitation to all of your councillors, small businesses, and community organisations, to sign up to any of the training opportunities that they might be interested in. Places are limited, but all interested parties can access all the essential information regarding the ‘Mindful Towns’ project – course content, dates, times, locations, and online booking portal – by clicking on the link below:

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and welcoming you at one of our training events in the coming months.
